Ah to be young again. Remember that time in battle school?

It has been a long time coming for myself ever since I saw reports of a possible Ender’s Game movie I have had visions of the enderverse coming to life.

But there were nagging questions. How to find a child actor who could convincingly play Ender? What about the huge amount of money that would be needed to recreate the book’s universe? Could they faithfully make a movie from the source material without getting an R rating thus alienating a big chunk of viewers?

I got my answer make a comic. I wondered if there would be an Ender’s Game book soon after I saw wyrms come out. I thought that a EG comic would be a perfect media for the story. Don’t have to worry about actors, money. The content could be preserved as you can get away with some stuff in comics that would rate different in film.

Then ultimate Iron Man came along and I knew that we were closer then ever before to a EG comic. So here we are and this book is in my hand. Let talk about it. I could not be happier with the comic.

It takes word for word the first three chapters form the novel. All that’s missing is the fat so to speak, the inner dialogue. Great move by Card for insisting on that. The book as a result moves along at a good pace but covers all the most important parts. I can say at this point that one would not have to read the book to get the best of the story.

This is not an adaptation. This is a translation of the novel into comic form. The one thing I could say is the exclusion of the parent’s past. That’s the one thing that could have staid in. Other then that it’s perfection. The art is amazing. The designs are perfect.

The look of the book from the presentation to the colors is spot on. Great work on the formics and the look of the tech. Also the details like the third text dancing by in the school room scene.

All in all this book is may favorite in the last ten years. You can not pass this one up if you ate a fan of the book. Even if you have not read this book you should really enjoy this comic. So good call Marvel for publishing this comic. I hope this will open doors for more scifi in the marvelU.
