Amber Atoms

Ok I like sci-fi a lot and I do like to see a female lead as well so I really want to like this book but so far I’m underwhelmed. The story is mostly predictable. I can plainly see a Star Wars mixed with Buck Rodgers vibe. The art is fair but the designs take much from the same places the writing comes from. I don’t like the coloring that much. I would like to see less of the hard edges and more texture. All told not bad but could be better.

The core follows the journey of a human thrown into a much bigger universe filled with different races. He is part of an elite team sent on important missions that are impossible for the rest of the military. Later we start to see some major politics going on in the background. Now one of the reasons I like this book is the rich universe that has been set up to draw from. It kind of reminds me of Babylon 5 in the way the different races interact with each other. The art is good reminds me of chareset in composion, but with less detail. I like the ship designs and the aliens arn’t half bad either. To top it off the issue ends with with a twist.
