I loved the high concept of the story and the personal struggles between the family. We also get some great insight into the mind of Reed Richards. This story was all about him and how he struggles with burden of being different. Also having the greatest mind in the Marvel universe wanting to solve every problem. I won’t spoil it but the story gets into some great interventional craziness. Bottom line you like the great big Sci-fi of a classic FF story with a very personal Reed Richards side to it then pick it up.

Ok I like sci-fi a lot and I do like to see a female lead as well so I really want to like this book but so far I’m underwhelmed. The story is mostly predictable. I can plainly see a Star Wars mixed with Buck Rodgers vibe. The art is fair but the designs take much from the same places the writing comes from. I don’t like the coloring that much. I would like to see less of the hard edges and more texture. All told not bad but could be better.

Story: Peter J. Tomasi & Keith Champagne

Art: Peter Snejbjerg

DC The Mighty #1 is another book imagining what it is like when a world without super heroes gets one. A sailor survives the blast of an atomic bomb and gets super strength, speed and the ability to fly. He becomes the super hero Alpha One. Its a what if the Hulk ended up being more like Superman story.

The story is about solving the murder of Captain Micheal Shaw. He was Alpha One’s handler and head of Section Omega a private police force in the mold of S.H.E.I.L.D. Dropped into the middle of the situation is Captain Shaw’s protege and replacement Gabriel Cole. The story is not the most original but, I would like to see how the story develops further down the line. The art is not flashy but it tells the story well. You should give it a try.

The best thing about this book is it only cost a dollar. Actually no. The best part is the first panel on page 11 where Superboy is crying because he didn’t make it into the Legion of Super-Heroes. I don’t understand why he’s crying but it made me laugh. This book is not really worth getting even though its only a dollar. Of the 18 comic pages only 6 are new. And they are just an advertisement for the new failure … I mean crossover for DC Origins & Omens. Seriously the only thing keeping DC from sucking more is that they don’t overcharge for there books. Get it because it because its cheap or if you really want to see the first time Superboy met the Legion of Super- Heroes. Otherwise pass on it.

Writer: Peter David

X-Factor Penciler-Larry Stroman Inker- Jon Sibal Colorist- Jeremy Cox

She-Hulk Penciler- Vincenzo Cucca Inker- Vincenzo Acunza Colorist- Barbara Ciardo

I was confused by the title of the crossover because on the cover its called “He Loves You” but on the inside of X-Factor its called the “Darwin Awards”. Fortunately the plots a very straightforward super hero meet up. But it did make me wonder why Marvel even bothered to put this one out. Mainly I think it was just so Peter David could crossover his two books and still be a part of Secret Invasion.

The storyline is just ok. Its a solid Peter David story but it wont blow you away. X-Factor is hired to find Darwin by his father who wants to get reacquainted with him. She-Hulk and her Skrull bounty hunting partner Jazinda are hunting down a Skrull “Talisman” that is connected to Darwin. In standard super hero fashion She-Hulk and X-Factor fight, after much property damage they reach an understanding and then team up to defeat the foe. Hopefully this will tie in to the bigger picture for the Secret Invasion event.

The art was very hit or miss. Most of the missing done by the X-Factor team. I usually enjoy Larry Stromans art but for these books it just felt rushed and a little sloppy at times. The She-Hulk team did a beautiful job. The art has a real clean animated look. My one little complaint is that they kind of took the Hulk out of She-Hulk. They made her look like a very tall green super model. Its a very little complaint cause I really liked the art.

Overall I cant recommend this crossover to anyone unless your a Peter David fan or need to have every Secret Invasion tie in. If your either one you will probably get these books anyway.

2 out of 5. Would have been 3 if the art were better in X-Factor.

Ok I know everyone is focusing on the big events right now but there is something brewing over in ff land that more should be paying attention to. The last few issues have been very solid not only in story but in art as well. Starting with the second earth story and the rampaging robot cap. In all of this super cool scifi stuff. We get some great bg on reed and sues start and how he really feels about her. Then we see johnny getting in with a bad girl. Ben is looking at starting something new and sue is reaching out to the public. Miller has been so great with these last few stories not only with the big stuff but also with the small stuff we see the four as people not just superheroes. But that was just the beginning. In the last two issues things have been picking up speed big time. Doom shows up demanding reed talk to him we fond that he has been defeated by this mysterious group of supers. They are awesome. They take down Grimm. Next johnny breaks up with his super villain Girlfriend and then we find out that she has been roving banks to fund the secret base of the new defenders. We also find that the Richards girl is getting super intelligent. I think her new nanny is the future her. Last we see the leader is the hulk. Johnny ex show up with daddy to capture him they fight and he ends up next to doom. Then we find that they have subdued Galactus. This is my favorite storyline running in marvel at this moment. It really is cool to see new faces in this story and the revile at the end of the second part was perfect. Can’t wait to see where this story goes.

It’s about this kid and his life and how comics affected his life. As well as how comics helped him cope with his parents divorce. the art is rough but is realistic in it’s own way. This has been a great story so far and a unusual one as well and that’s a good thing. 4.5 out of 5

Gary frank has upped his game

This storyline has been a joy to read. We find Clark looking for signs of Brainiac. We find out from Kara that we’ve never seen the real brainiac. This issue was great from the art to characterasion to diologe. The facial expressions at points are perfect at showing what is going on without words. We some great character moments between Superman and Supergirl, Lois and Clark, and Clark and his earth parents. It has also been great to see more of the past of krypton In this issue. Get on board this book now!
